Welcome to the home of the Mighty Hawks. As principal of Charlotte Amalie High School, I greet you warmly and invite you to visit us on line or in person as often as you can. Whether you are an alumnus, a visitor, a friend, or just curious about us, please use this website to help us grow and reach even higher levels of excellence. At CAHS, we just don't hide our Chicken Hawk Pride.
Since its inception in 1920, this comprehensive high school has grown to now accommodate over 1600 students and approximately 200 staff. Accredited by the Middle States Association's Commission on Secondary Schools, CAHS has a long, proud tradition of excellence. Our motto is "To Excel Always."
Our campus sits presently on a lush 10 acre hillside property in a residential and business area of our town and overlooks our beautiful harbor. With covered outside corridors and plenty of steps we can enjoy the beauty of nature each moment, even when the heat seems to warm the tropical breezes of our island for a few months of the year.
At CAHS, we educate students in grades nine through twelve through a wide variety of curricular, co-curricular, and extra curricular offerings, and with the continuous support of our staff, parents and community, we work diligently to accomplish our mission. Our student population is varied and our programs are similarly varied to address the needs of students. Take some time to browse our website and learn more of what CAHS has to offer. Please feel free to contact us by telephone (340) 774-0780 or by email at cahshawks@yahoo.com and let us know what you think. You may also contact me personally at chowell@sttj.k12.vi.
We extend a special welcome to our distinguished alumni all over the world. Please be sure to complete the alumni survey found on our homepage so that we can begin to build our database. Then look for news of future development efforts requiring your support as we strive to expand our library and improve technology at our Alma Mater.
I sincerely hope for you and your family the blessings of good health, prosperity, and tremendous success throughout the year. And in whatever way you can help, please remember this CAHS family in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. We're serious about educating our youth and recognize that it takes a whole village. May God bless you richly.
